Directions: From Lloydminster take Hwy 17 north to the junction of Hwy 3, then east to St. Walburg, go 4 kms north of St. Walburg on Hwy 26, turn east onto the secondary road #795, about 20 kms in you will see a road marker that takes you to the subdivisions on the west side of the lake, or if you keep going east, you will see a sign indicating the Regional Park, turn south on it for the subdivisions on the east side. Approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Lloydminster.
With several beaches and subdivisions to choose from, Brightsand Lake is an excellent place to spend your summers or to live year-round. Surrounded by the lush, boreal forest, this is a place to come to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
The crystal clear water and sand beaches are the perfect backdrop for a family getaway. At the regional park site, Saskatchewan's largest, there are nature trails, picnic areas, playgrounds and ball diamonds. A large sandy beach with an on-site ice cream shop will keep the kids happy! Firewood, shower and laundry facilities and a pay telephone are also available.
The lake itself is perfect for watersports – skiing, kneeboarding, sailing and canoeing.
There is both a 9-hole sand green golf course and an 18-hole miniature golf course right at the park. Within easy driving distance, you’ll also find golf courses at Mervin, St. Walburg, Glaslyn and Blueberry Hill (located on the west side of Turtle Lake).
The nearby communities of Turtleford, St. Walburg and Glaslyn offer full services – gas, groceries, hardware, auto mechanics, restaurants, banking, Post Offices and hotel/motels.
A real spirited summer community develops here each year. Family campfires, boating, fishing and quad trips are popular activities. If you hang around for the fall and winter months, you’ll note the excellent hunting and ice-fishing opportunities in the area. There are also some great places for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.
Somewhat quieter than Turtle or Loon, this lake is becoming increasingly chosen by couples considering their retirement years.
