Hillmond – The Home of Wade Redden
Directions: From Lloydminster, 16 kms north on Hwy 17 and 20 kms East. Watch for markers.
A small village in the heart of the oil patch, Hillmond is a nice alternative to city living. A person can drive from home in Hillmond to work in Lloydminster in about 20 minutes.
Agriculture and oil and gas are the major sources of income in this area. Some of Canada's most prominent purebred cattle producers are located in the RM of Brittania.
There are a lot of farm kids that are bussed to school in Hillmond. Not surprisingly, 4-H is a popular club in this community. In Hillmond, your children can take hockey or figure skating lessons. The rink is called “The Silverdome”. Recently, there has been a huge effort by the residents to renovate this facility. Hillmond’s own Wade Redden, a defenceman with the Ottawa Senators, stepped up to help with this project in a big way.
There is a restaurant and pub in the village. Shopping is done in nearby Lloydminster. The closest medical services are also in Lloydminster.
Similar to other communities in the Midwest, Hillmond is located conveniently close to some of Saskatchewan’s most beautiful lakes.
