Kitscoty, AB. – Biggest Little Sports Centre in Alberta

Directions: The Village of Kitscoty is situated at the junction of Highway 16 and Secondary Highway 897; approximately 15 minutes west of Lloydminster.

Around 700 people live in the Village of Kitscoty. Primarily an agricultural community, Kitscoty is now home to many people employed in the oil sector. Its close proximity to Lloydminster makes it an attractive location for families who want to raise their children in a small town but don’t want to be too far from the convenience of the city. Families also appreciate the lower cost of living in Kitscoty.

There are two public schools in town. Kitscoty Elementary is a K to grade 6 school and Kitscoty Jr. Sr. High School is grades 7 through 12. Sports are important in this town – you’ll find a very active hockey arena, two gymnasiums, a ball park with ten diamonds, a curling rink and a golf course. Children also have the opportunity to take dance or figure skating lessons. The Jr. Sr. High School has an accomplished music program and French instruction is available in each grade. Teenagers have the option to participate in drama and travel programs as well.

You’ll find a friendly downtown in Kitscoty. The Wheatfield Inn has been around for decades and is an active social hub. A grocery store, a busy meat market/convenience store/gas station, an insurance agency, bank, post office hair and tanning salon and a Chinese restaurant complete the services available to residents.

The nearest hospital is in Lloydminster [22 km]. Kitscoty has a sub-unit of the East Central Health District. The community is proud of the brand-new Community Hall. The facility is a beautiful venue for weddings, graduations and other occasions. The United Church was also recently constructed.

Many residents take in the annual Lea Park Pro Rodeo (10 miles North of Marwayne) in June. There is ample opportunity to “get away from it all” when you live in Kitscoty. You aren’t far from the Midwest’s Lake Country. Many campgrounds and beaches can be found within only an hours’ drive.
