Maidstone – The Canola Capital of Canada
Directions: Maidstone is located on the TransCanada Yellowhead Hwy, 55 kms East of Lloydminster.
Rich in both the agricultural tradition, plus oil and gas, Maidstone currently boasts a population of around 1,200 people and a trading population of over 7,500. The community offers a friendly small-town atmosphere with the convenience of being located in the heart of oil country. Residents enjoy a lower cost of living relative to the nearby city of Lloydminster.
A charming community, Maidstone has plenty of services to offer. An new integrated hospital/nursing home/community health centre, K-12 Community School, three gas stations, three restaurants, a motel, video rental store, tire shop, bowling alley, library, two hair salons, SGI broker, two banks and a gym are available for residents. The town is proud to welcome Fields, a new national retailer.
Plenty of hockey fans here! There is the opportunity for children and adults to join a team. The community also offers figure skating lessons.
Delfrari-Victoria Park, located right in the town of Maidstone, is a picturesque setting, featuring walking trails, camping, tennis courts, ball diamonds, a playground and a trout fishing pond. Maidstone’s Museum & Pioneer Village is an impressive look at years gone by. In the summer, the museum is home to a weekly Farmer’s Market. Canada Day celebrations also take place at the museum grounds.
You don’t have to go far for a day on the golf course! Silver Lake Regional Park is located just 14.5 kms. North on HWY 21, 1.6 kms. East and 0.8 kms. North of Maidstone. There you’ll find a 9-hole grass green golf course, camping, swimming lessons (early July) and nature trails.
And of course, Maidstone is located conveniently close to the pride of the prairies – Lake Country! You’ll find numerous areas nearby with great hunting, fishing and camping opportunities.
