Little Fishing Lake – Outdoor Adventure

Directions:  From Lloydminster, take Hwy 17 north to the junction of Hwy 3, then east to Paradise Hill, then north on Hwy #21; about one hour and fifteen minutes drive NE of Lloydminster.

The wild horses that roam freely in the Bronson Forest area give us a glimpse into the Wild West of years gone by. The horses are believed to be the descendants of run-away horses from local farms, Indian reserves and Metis colonies. There are thought to be at least 60 wild horses in the area. If you’re going looking for them, respect the horses and keep your own safety in mind – don’t walk up to them or harass them. Take pictures from a distance.

Little Fishing Lake has a government campground and the Little Fishing Lake store has cabins for rent as well. In the summer, you can relax on the beach or take the boat on the water. There are about a dozen lakes suitable for fishing in the vicinity.

This is also a great area to explore by snowmobile or quad. Many trails and even the lake itself provides boundless opportunity to discover the beauty of this land. Ask the locals how to find “Therret’s Cabin Trail”, “Ol’ Baldy Trail” and “The Old Rail Grade”. If you’re at all into ATVs or snowmobiling, you’ll be glad you did. Therret’s Cabin Trail is the site of the 1885 Rebellion Trail. Annual rallies are an enjoyable way to take in the pristine surroundings as well.

St. Walburg, Paradise Hill and Frenchman Butte are the nearest towns. You’ll find most services available in St. Walburg and Paradise Hill – groceries, fuel, banking and restaurants.

Little Fishing Lake is a growing cabin community. People are recognizing that this area is a great place for family vacations and are choosing to build their summer retreats here.
